Pro Vice Chancellor – Engagement

Salary: c£110k

The University of South Wales is seeking to strengthen it senior team with the appointment of two PVCs in the areas of Research and Engagement. As PVC Engagement you will lead the university’s strategic capability aiming to enhance an already strong position in a number of areas. A number of excellent external relationships already exist and this role will involve the enhancement of those relationships whilst implementing a strategy for taking the engagement agenda forward at apace.

As strategic lead for our international activities and for our FE and strategic partnerships, the PVC Engagement will need to demonstrate significant skills in promoting the university, its services and academic offerings, and in negotiating positive outcomes for business opportunities.

Working closely with other members of Executive, notably the PVC Research (who will have formal line management responsibility for support staff in this area) the postholder will have substantial external engagement experience and be an excellent communicator, motivator and organiser with a credible and successful record of business and education transactions.


The Pro Vice-Chancellor Engagement will be appointed by a University Selection Committee.

A Longlist Review Meeting between Perrett Laver and the Selection Panel will take place at the beginning of November. Perrett Laver interviews of longlisted candidates will take place in mid-November. The Shortlist review meeting between Perrett Laver and the Selection Panel will take place towards the end of November.

Selected candidates will be invited to first round interviews in early December and the process will conclude with formal panel interviews in early January 2017. The final appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references.
