This Dish Room Attendant provides support to Housing and Dining Services / Residential Dining by washing, sanitizing and storing equipment for the dining center. Additionally, cross-train and perform duties in all areas of the operation. This position also trains to assist cooks in hot food production from an established preprinted menu and standardized recipes. Responsible for quality, quantity and appearance of foods prepared.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Dish Machine Operation
- Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, pots and pans, flatware, and service ware used in dining center.
- Assist with sanitizing all production, service areas, machinery/equipment, dishes and utensils according to sanitation guidelines and schedules.
- Assist in servicing and monitoring equipment.
- Assist with training and oversight of hourly employees to complete dishwashing tasks.
- Maintain a high standard of safety by keeping work area clean and organized.
- Assist in assembly and dismantle service and dining areas.
- Train hourly employees to complete dining assemble/dismantle duties.
- Perform custodial duties as needed (ie: sweeping, mopping, hard surface cleaning of the dining center).
- Establish and nurture a positive relationship with customers.
- Comply with rules and regulations and ensure compliance of others.
Meeting Attendance and Other Duties
- Attend assigned meetings and training sessions.
- Pass appropriate assessments as applicable (ie: Dining, Departmental, Unit, ServSafe, Allergy Training, New Employee Training, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
Incidental duties include, but are not limited to:
Food Production Assistant
- Assist in production of food items from preprinted menu using standardized recipes and methods to maintain high quality, nutritional standards, and safety/sanitation regulations.
- Monitor and restock service areas by assuring food product quality and availability.
- Assist in recording temperature control checks (HACCP).
- Garnish foods in an attractive manner.
- Pull, prepare and produce food items for further use.
- Assist in overseeing and training hourly employees to complete food production.
- Train in the utilization of food and supply items by storing, refrigerating, freezing, or disposing following safety, sanitation, and operation guidelines.
- Assist and learn how to record and access customer counts, food preparation, production, inventory and all other information pertinent to Computrition Menu Management System.
Six months of dishwashing or dining services experience appropriate to the job assignment.
The highly desired candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, abilities, personal characteristics, and experience directly related and critical to this position:
- Work experience in a high volume meal prep (500+ meals) food production operation.
- Experience providing exceptional customer service.
- Ability to self-motivate with little to no supervision.
An approach to work that includes:
- Flexibility and the ability to adjust to changing work demands, priorities, and routines.
- Willingness to learn and follow dining services procedures related to food safety, cleanliness, and dining center operations.
