University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS)

USIAS Fellowships 2017: Call for Proposals

The University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS) supports original high-quality research in all scientific fields. Each year, the Institute awards between ten and twenty Fellowships for a period of between three months and two years, to enable the pursuit of innovative research projects by selected researchers, who become Fellows at USIAS.

In this 5th call for proposals, USIAS welcomes applications from high-quality scientists from outside Strasbourg, wishing to carry out research in Strasbourg in collaboration with Strasbourg-based researchers, and/or using a specific Strasbourg facility (equipment, library, etc.).

In addition, Strasbourg-based researchers are invited to apply, if they seek to work on particularly original research ideas and apply their knowledge and skills to new domains outside of their current field of work (change of direction in research).

USIAS will provide Fellows with financial support for the successful completion of their project, covering operating costs of research, seminars, travel and publications as well as (partial) dispensation of existing commitments such as teaching and administrative duties.

Applications should present an original, ambitious, high quality research proposal, in terms of topic, methodology or perspective (interdisciplinary), which has the potential to make an above average contribution to a certain scientific field, or enable the emergence of a new research field. The fellowships are open to junior and senior researchers in any field, currently employed at the level (or equivalent) of assistant professor or beyond. All applicants must provide evidence of excellence in accordance with their level of seniority. Proposals should be written in English to enable international peer review.

Deadline for submission:  28 October 2016 (midnight)
