The Office for Fair Access (OFFA) is the public body that helps to promote and safeguard fair access to higher education for people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

We are seeking to appoint two highly motivated people to help manage OFFA`s Evidence and Effective Practice work.

OFFA`s core regulatory processes are approving and monitoring access agreements. We assess and approve access agreements, and then monitor institutions` progress against the targets and commitments set out in those agreements. To support this work, OFFA is developing its understanding of effective practice, working closely with the sector, and commissioning research to contribute to national evidence. This knowledge will be used to support our policy development and contribute to the way we work directly with institutions.

The successful candidates will contribute to OFFA`s work in developing the evidence around what has the greatest impact in supporting fair access and student success. You will work closely with our policy and analysis teams to help influence and change behaviour in universities and colleges, ultimately increasing the rate of students from disadvantaged backgrounds entering and succeeding in higher education.

OFFA is a small organisation, with around 25 members of staff, and you will need to work flexibly to contribute across the team, managing tight deadlines and changing priorities.

You will have experience of working in an academic setting, ideally developing research projects. You will also be an excellent planner with strong interpersonal skills, have a confident and positive approach and be able to delegate and work effectively with others at all levels. You will have excellent communication skills with a particular aptitude for clarity and accuracy.

If you have these qualities and are excited about the challenge of improving fair access to higher education we would very much like to hear from you.

Benefits include 25 days` annual leave (pro rata), a comprehensive staff development programme, and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme.

OFFA is supported through a service level agreement with the Higher Education Funding Council for England and staff are covered by the same pay, conditions and human resourcing policies.
