Position Summary

Seeking an individual with a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related field with an interest in analysis and quantitation of proteins by mass spectrometry. The position is in the Gustafson Laboratory within the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University. Successful applicants must demonstrate a working knowledge of mass spectrometry, preferably with application towards protein analysis, and an interest in cancer therapeutics. Opportunities for interaction with the University of Colorado Cancer Center also exist.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry/Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related field

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Prefer experience of mass spectrometry with application towards protein analysis, and an interest in cancer therapeutics

Writing of grants, manuscripts and the training of graduate students, undergraduates and PVM students on the use of discrete peptide analysis for the quantitation of proteins.

Develop and validate ultra sensitive liquid chromatography and MS/MS methods to quantify small molecules and metabolites. This will be primarily work carried out on the 6500QTrap instrument.

Quantitative Proteomic Assays Analysis


Develop and implement quantitative proteomic assays using discrete peptide analysis. Duties include the identification of discrete peptides using software designed to identify unique peptide sequences that are not susceptible to modification. Development of LC/MS/MS methods to separate and quantify those peptides.
