Applications are invited for the post of Professor of New Media at the University of the West of Scotland. The successful candidate will have a significant role in leading the strategic development of our Journalism provision, and will be a senior member of the School’s leadership cadre.  The Professor of New Media will be positioned to lead our research and enterprise activities in Journalism and related fields as well as making a major contribution to our teaching and supervision at both undergraduate, postgraduate and research students.

The successful candidate will have an international reputation in current issues in journalism including: media impact and influence; social media; citizen journalism; political communications; broadcast and print convergence; and multi-platform production. Research and enterprise activities are aligned with the work of the School’s Centre for Social Science and Creativity, and the Creative Media Academy. The post-holder will be a significant contributor to our forthcoming REF submission, by publishing internationally excellent and world leading research outputs, winning external funding to support this research, and mentoring and contributing to the development of early careers researchers.
