Full time

Applications are invited for a Professor of Sport to join the academic team in the School of Science and Sport, at the UWS Lanarkshire Campus. We welcome applications from senior researchers across all sport and exercise disciplines (i.e. physiology, psychology, biomechanics, coaching, development, management etc).

The School of Science and Sport is looking to build, grow and diversify from its recent success of REF2014. Under the umbrella of the Institute of Clinical Exercise and Health Science, in its first submission in the Sport and Exercise Sciences, Leisure and Tourism UoA, it achieved an excellent outcome of 47% of its output rated as internationally excellent or world leading. Currently the sport subject area consists of 20 staff delivering 3 undergraduate programmes to about 450 UG students, with 36 PhD and 12 MRes students.

We are looking for an experienced senior academic with a proven track record of world-class research outputs and funding to play a leading role in expanding the research and enterprise activities within the Institute of Clinical Exercise and Health Science and lead a significant contribution to the REF 2020 submission. As a senior academic, you will be expected to support the School Leadership Group to deliver against the University’s Corporate Strategy and School’s Operational Plan.

You will have the skills, knowledge and experience to play a leadership role in achieving programme, school, and university goals in research, enterprise, teaching and internationalisation. You will be an accomplished teacher, versed in contemporary learning methods, but also able to contribute to curricular renovations to include planning, development and delivery of research-influenced, blended and distance learning.

You should hold a PhD in Sport, or other closely aligned discipline and be able to demonstrate success in teaching and research supervision at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.  A strong track record of research income generation and a bibliography of publications consistent with eligibility for the next REF submission are the most important factors in your application for this role.
