University of the West of Scotland is an ambitious, growing university and we are at an exciting stage in our development.  We have renewed our academic and international focus and are growing our research and knowledge exchange. Our investment in Engineering and Computing now sees us recruiting a number of academic posts in the School. We are looking for engaged and talented individuals to make a real impact on the local, national and international communities we serve. This post is therefore part of a major investment in new talent and excellence to support our growth plans.

Our taught programmes are engaged with practice scores reaching 100% NSS satisfaction in many programmes.  The School’s research is organised into a close community of industry-focused inter-disciplinary research groups composite materials, energy & renewables and Thin Film Technology and we have a growing international reputation.  We are launching a set of new post-graduate programmes over the next two academic sessions to build on these successes.

We are looking to appoint outstanding academics who can add to our profile. Your experience will demonstrate a commitment to high quality, innovative education with a global outlook. You will augment our commercial and / or research activities, and will exhibit an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset to enhance the impact of your work.

You should be qualified in an appropriate first degree, normally at Doctoral level.  It would also be preferable to be a Chartered Engineer.  Relevant experience Manufacturing Systems, Project and Operations Management, including ERP Systems, Continuous Improvement, (Lean and Six Sigma), and Change Management, is a requirement for the post.  In addition, experience in an ERP/SAP system would be beneficial. If appropriate an early-career lectureship could be offered to a suitable candidate, with the aspirations to meet the qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be based at our Paisley Campus with some scheduled activities at our other campus locations. The West of Scotland boasts some of the most stunning countryside and coastline for outdoor and family life. We are close to Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, with its rich heritage and vibrant cultural life, and just minutes from the International airport.
