Early-Career Lecturer in Construction Management
£34,956 – £41,709 per annum

Full time

University of the West of Scotland is an ambitious, growing university and we are at an exciting stage in our development. We have renewed our academic and international focus and are growing our research and knowledge exchange. Our investment in Engineering and Computing now sees us recruiting a number of academic posts in the School. We are looking for engaged and talented individuals to make a real impact on the local, national and international communities we serve. This post is therefore part of a major investment in new talent and excellence to support our growth plans.

Our taught programmes are engaged with practice and the BEng Civil Engineering programme is Accredited by the Joint Board of Moderators and is at the top in our field for student satisfaction in the UK National Student Survey.  The School’s research is organised into a close community of industry-focused inter-disciplinary research groups in areas such as construction materials and construction management and we have a growing international reputation.  We are launching a set of new post-graduate programmes over the next two academic sessions to build on these successes

We are looking to appoint an outstanding future academic who can add to our profile. You will demonstrate a commitment to high quality, innovative teaching with a global outlook. You will augment our commercial and / or research activities, and will exhibit an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset to enhance the impact of your work.

You should be qualified in an appropriate construction management discipline, preferably at Doctoral level. It would also be preferable to be working toward qualification and membership of a relevant construction industry professional body. Relevant experience in one or more of the fields of construction site administration, construction management or civil engineering is an essential requirement of the post. In addition, some experience in current surveying and structural engineering design practices and methods associated with these areas would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be based at our Paisley Campus with some scheduled activities at our other campus locations. The West of Scotland boasts some of the most stunning countryside and coastline for outdoor and family life. We are close to Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, with its rich heritage and vibrant cultural life, and just minutes from the International airport.

The University of the West of Scotland is committed to supporting your personal development and providing an inclusive working environment. UWS has an Athena SWAN bronze award, is a two-ticks employer and welcomes other under-represented groups, as such we particularly encourage applications to support our diversity agenda.
