About us
At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. And we place collaboration at the heart of everything we do. With ever growing student numbers, we make sure our people are engaged and empowered by blending digital technologies, international perspectives, work-oriented connections and inspirational teaching. Together we’re on a journey to transform our students’ lives. And it starts with people like you.
In our Institute for Education (IfE) we know a lot about education. We’ve been educating students, teachers and other education professionals since the 1940s. As educationalists, we work in classrooms and other settings across the world, providing the highest quality teaching and research - with over 600 partners, including schools, colleges, early years settings and anywhere where learning takes place. Over 600 undergraduates study with us each year alongside over 500 student teachers and an increasing number of postgraduate students and doctoral researchers - all committed to building creative, connected education communities focused on bringing theory and research to quality education practice.
About the role
As a Lecturer/ Senior lecturer in Early Years Education you will  contribute to the development and delivery of a new joint venture between BSU and Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology (HUHST), Hunan Province, China. This Bachelor's Degree Programme in Pre School Education will be co-taught in China for years 1-3 and in the UK for year four. The successful candidate will be expected to spend approximately 2 months each academic year teaching in China (one month in the autumn and one in late spring). While the teaching will be in English, your language skills and an ability to work autonomously will be important.

You will also be involved in our other high quality and innovative BSU  Education Studies programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will join a team of colleagues also working in the field of early years education to teach on a range of modules that explore relevant topics such as child development, management of settings and education policy.  You may also be asked to contribute to other programmes in education and to undertake course leadership, depending on your experience.
About you

We need you to be flexible team player, open to new ideas and interested in new challenges. You will be someone who shares our values and commitment to social justice and student-centred teaching and learning. You will have a higher degree in the field of Education and should either have an HEA fellowship or be currently working towards submitting your application.  You will also have a commitment to scholarship and research to enrich your teaching and enhance the student experience. Strong communication and work management skills will be required.  You will become part of an inspirational team of established and well respected academics within the IfE.
