Lecturer in Primatology

Open to the world…

Durham University is one of the world’s top research intensive universities with strengths across the Arts and Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences. The University sits in a beautiful, historic city where it shares ownership of a World Heritage Site with Durham Cathedral, one of the greatest Romanesque buildings in Western Europe. A collegiate University, Durham recruits outstanding students from across the world and offers an unmatched wider student experience.

Join us as Lecturer in Primatology, and you will discover a wonderful intellectual and social environment in which to make a career. Here, you will explore the frontiers of knowledge.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the internationally recognised Evolutionary Anthropology Research Group. Following significant investment through RCUK and HEFCE funding, we have vibrant research programs in the behaviour, ecology and evolution of Old World monkeys, and comparative and phylogenetic approaches to primate adaptation and evolution. We will look to you to consolidate our strengths in primate evolution, behaviour and ecology. As well as building strong links across disciplines and international borders, taking our research profile to new heights, you will be instrumental to the further development of teaching in our outstanding department.

To join us, you will need a good first degree and doctorate in Anthropology, Primatology, Zoology or a related discipline. Your research interests complement our work in primatology and anthropology, with potential either to shape the disciplinary agenda, or to create public benefit in terms of individual, societal or economic wellbeing. An enthusiastic teacher with a track record of excellent evaluations, you have experience of both lecturing and small group teaching at university level.

If you are an outstanding, enterprising, intellectually curious academic with ambition and a strong sense of collegiality, please do consider applying to Durham University.
