Open to the world…

Durham University is one of the world’s top research intensive universities with strengths across the Arts and Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences. The University sits in a beautiful, historic city where it shares ownership of a World Heritage Site with Durham Cathedral, one of the greatest Romanesque buildings in Western Europe. A collegiate University, Durham recruits outstanding students from across the world and offers an unmatched wider student experience.

Join us as Senior Lecturer in Education, and you will discover a wonderful intellectual and social environment in which to make a career. Here, you will explore the frontiers of knowledge.

In this important role, you will make a significant contribution to the development of research and teaching within one of the very best Education departments in the UK. Committed to research-led and small group teaching, we have consistently achieved 100% student satisfaction in the NSS, together with strong REF and Ofsted ratings, and high rankings in the University Guides. We offer you a generous workload allocation and support for pursuing innovative and critical research. Further enhancing our international reputation for research excellence, you will secure funding and attract high calibre Doctoral students. They will be delighted by your teaching.

To join us, you will need a good first degree and doctorate in a relevant discipline. You will bring to the role an ability to carry out internationally recognised research which shapes the disciplinary agenda or creates public benefit in terms of individual, societal or economic wellbeing. A particular interest in Intercultural Education would be an advantage, but is not essential. You will certainly be an experienced teacher with a strong track record of developing successful learning approaches. With excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach, you will be an outstanding ambassador for the department.

If you are an outstanding, enterprising, intellectually curious academic with ambition and a strong sense of collegiality, please do consider applying to Durham University.
