The School

The School of Economics is one of the largest in the Faculty of Business and Economics. It teaches both undergraduate and post graduate programmes. The school contributes to research excellence and provides advice on important economic and social issues facing regional governments and other stakeholders.

The Opportunity

The appointee will teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Population and Demography and contribute to the School’s Official Statistics Programme. She/he will supervise postgraduate research students and contribute to building a stronger research profile for the school. The incumbent will also work with other regional and international organisations, engage in consultancy services and contribute to the development of the Population Demography programme.

The Person We Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A PhD in Population and Demography;
  • At least 5 years of tertiary teaching experience; and
  • Proven record of highly ranked research publications in Population and Demography.

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Knowledge of the Pacific region;
  • Experience in working with Statistical Offices, Regional or International Organisations.

The position is available for a term of 3 years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.

Salary Range: Senior Lecturer FJ $90, 882 to FJ $104, 865 per annum
