The School of Computing, Information and Mathematical Sciences is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual as Subject Coordinator for the course UU100 (Communications and Information Literacy) which is one of four compulsory generic courses being offered by USP. The aim of the course is to ensure that all incoming students develop knowledge and competence in the use of computers and information resources.
The appointee will be responsible for all aspects of the course including: coordinating the delivery of the course in consultation with colleagues; collaborating with stakeholders and colleagues on course development and other information literacy initiatives; delivering instruction sessions and tutorials to students; performing related duties as assigned; supervising and training academic support staff involved in the delivery of this course; providing support to students taking this course from the regional campuses; working on improvement of the course and its delivery.
The Person We Seek
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A Master’s Degree in Information Technology and knowledge of Library/Information Science;
- Extensive knowledge of ICT and information literacy;
- Proven experience in providing ICT and information literacy instruction;
- Excellent teaching and presentation skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collegially;
- Ability to communicate clearly, knowledgeably and personably in writing and orally;
- Commitment to high-quality service and strong service orientation;
- Knowledge of distance and flexible learning is also necessary for this position.
Preference will be given to applicants with: Experience in similar work in a tertiary institution and experience in working in a multicultural environment.
The position is available for a fixed term of 2 years.
Salary Range: Subject Coordinator FJ $61, 422 to FJ $77, 569 per annum
