Assistant Professor in Primary Health Care (NCD)
The appointees will report to the Head of School of Public Health & Primary Care, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences through the FNU’s reporting structure and be required to teach in the Master in Public Health - NCD Programme, providing leadership in the development of Public Health and Primary Care initiatives and research in the specific field of Non-Communicable Diseases. Primarily, the appointee will be responsible for teaching and supervision of students engaged in thesis dissertation and implementation. Duties include collaboration with other Public Health working partners and consultancy activities in the areas relevant to the needs of the region, activities related to teaching such as regular review of units and programmes, upgrade of learning and teaching resources, development of new programmes and mentoring of junior staff and students. Activities associated with tutorials, lecturing, exam paper preparation & marking are to be implemented according to policies and procedures. Appointee will also be required to undertake other administrative duties as directed by Head of the School.
The applicant should possess minimum qualification of PhD or Masters in Public Health with a Health background and working experience in a Health system with 5 -10 years engagement in NCD related programmes. Demonstrated curriculum development and training experience, and research/publication, and/or consultancy experience, in the relevant field is vital.
An Assistant Professor shall have a demonstrated ability to make a significant contribution to the discipline through research and/or scholarship. In research and/or scholarship and/or teaching they shall demonstrate the ability to make original contributions which expand knowledge and practice in their disciplines.
