The Graduate school of Education is seeking to appoint a fixed term Research Associate to work with Dr Helen Manchester on the following project: Parlours of Wonder. This project builds on a number of previous funded projects which have the explored in different ways the importance of community engagement in tackling issues of social isolation in our older populations living in care. Parlours of Wonder aims to co-design engaging community spaces where older people can interact with evocative objects and record and share their memories and life histories. For more information, see
The post-holder will support the Principle Investigator (Dr Helen Manchester) in the delivery of the aims and objectives of the project. Examples of the types of activity involved are as follows: support with the development of an engaging community focused space (or “Parlour”); support the co-design of a DIY blueprint for care settings to design and use their own “Parlours”; support the development of a training toolkit for care staff; support the curation of an exhibition to launch the “Parlour” idea.
