The University seeks an outstanding candidate to take up the role of Dean of Equality and Diversity and Professor at Durham University.

The Dean of Diversity and Equality is responsible for leading the implementation and further development of the University’s strategy in relation to equality and diversity for both staff and students. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to provide strong leadership and will offer a clear strategic vision.

The Dean will build on current strengths to apply the University’s commitment to the importance of equality and diversity in maximising talent to deliver its strategic goals of becoming a World Top 50 University.

The successful candidate will be a member of academic staff at professorial level and will spend equal time in the role of Dean of Equality and Diversity and in the academic post. The post is full-time reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Salary will be paid according to experience within the professorial pay band from £70,000 and rising to in excess of £110,000; with the post of Dean also attracting an additional allowance.

We encourage candidates who are able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to the values and culture of the University, with a strong grasp of equality and diversity issues in a Higher Education context. Your application must also include an ambitious personal research plan and provide a clear indication of the four written pieces planned for submission to the next Research Excellence Framework (REF2020/21).

The application must include PDFs of two of your most significant pieces of work which should be internationally excellent or world leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour as defined by the Research Excellence Framework and at least one of which should be suitable for consideration for submission in REF2020/21.
