Dean of Education
Dean of Education
The University of Windsor prides itself on being Canada’s most personal comprehensive university. It is an active research institution offering a much broader range of undergraduate and graduate programs than most universities its size, but it remains small enough to provide a warm and welcoming environment for individual students, faculty, and staff. Located at the busiest intersection in North America, beside the Ambassador Bridge to the United States, the University plays a leading role in the future of the region and the province of Ontario, with an evolving network of cross-border and international academic and industrial partnerships, in particular with leading American universities in Michigan.
The University of Windsor invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, Faculty of Education to commence July 2017. Through its B.Ed. (Concurrent and Consecutive), M.Ed., and Ph.D. programs, a new undergraduate minor in organizational learning and teaching, and its IB and AQ initiatives, the Faculty of Education offers future educators a unique range of enriched research and learning opportunities and global initiatives in China, Tanzania and the United Kingdom. These courses and programs, along with strategic collaborative partnerships involving boards of education, universities and community partners, provide students with rich intellectual and experiential learning opportunities. The goal for the Faculty – the most diverse in Ontario – is to create the conditions for professional and scholarly growth as demonstrated by its growing alumnae of reflective, caring, competent and innovative educators. The Faculty’s mission is shaped by a commitment to equity and social justice.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Dean will be an effective advocate for the Faculty and will communicate its vision and goals to audiences within and beyond the University. The Dean will be an educational leader who embraces the Faculty’s commitment to attract and educate a student body that sees education as a way of enhancing the quality of life in their community.
A member of the University’s academic leadership, you will bring to the role a distinguished record of academic achievement with a Doctorate in a related field. Responsibilities in a leadership role have given you the confidence to make thoughtful strategic and administrative decisions. Strong financial and marketing skills will enable you to position the Faculty for success in an environment of constant change. You are an effective, persuasive communicator with a leadership style founded on a concern for your colleagues and staff.
The University of Windsor is a welcoming community that is committed to equity and supports diversity in its teaching, learning, and work environments. In pursuit of the University's Employment Equity Plan, members from the designated groups (Women, Aboriginal Peoples, Visible Minorities, Persons with Disabilities, and Sexual Minorities) are encouraged to apply and to self-identify.
