Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in Petroleum Engineering

The Petroleum Engineering Department at the Petroleum Institute in Abu Dhabi invites applications from outstanding candidates for three (3) faculty positions, starting Fall semester 2017. Applicants should possess an earned PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering or a closely related field. Consideration will be given to only those who have a distinguished record in teaching and clear vision in research relevant to the mission of the Petroleum Engineering Department at the PI. Experience in supervising PhD students as well as a doctoral-level research and/or experience in carbonate reservoirs or related formation is a definite plus.

Positions are available at both Assistant and Associate/Full Professor levels. Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is open to all areas of petroleum engineering whereas for Associate/Full Professor appointment preference will be given to candidates with expertise in drilling and/or production. Applicants for the Professor rank must be recognized internationally as leaders and experts in their domain of research. For exceptional candidates, appointment as distinguished professor can be considered.

The PI aspires to create a world-class research institution with the main emphasis to support and advance oil, gas and energy industries. The strong financial support of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and its subsidiaries, as well as four major international oil companies, BP, Shell, JODCO and TOTAL, provide a teaching and research environment that is unique in the resources and potential that the PI enjoys. The PI currently offers Bachelor and Master degrees and will launch the PhD program in Spring 2017. Research activities are well integrated into the educational system and are expressly designed to serve the R & D needs of ADNOC and its subsidiaries. Salary and Benefits:

The position offers highly competitive compensation and benefits. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The total compensation package includes a tax-free 12-month base salary, and a benefits allowance that covers relocation, housing, initial furnishings, utilities, transportation (interest-free automobile purchase loan), health insurance, child(ren) education, end-of-service benefit, conference travel and annual leave travel. Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination and qualify for a visa in the United Arab Emirates.
