When a position becomes available, the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures hires non-tenure track Special Assistant Professors/Temporary or Special Instructors from this applicant pool. Such Special Assistant Professors/Temporary or Special Instructors may be hired for fall, spring, and/or summer term in a given academic year. They are hired to teach courses in language acquisition, linguistics, literature and culture in one or more of the following languages:
American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Russian, and Spanish. The Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures does not currently have any openings however, if one becomes available, we will contact the applicants of this pool.

Required Job Qualifications

Requirements for this position are:
– Ph.D. for Special Assistant Professor rank or M.A. for Temporary or Special Instructors;
– Experience teaching a specific subject area and demonstrated teaching excellence;
– Fluency or near-fluency in the language;
– Experience teaching the language or literature.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Preferred job qualifications for this position are:
– Willingness to work together with LLC instructors as a team on curriculum building, assessment, student outreach and recruitment;
– Experience / expertise in curriculum development;
– Experience/expertise in assessment;
– Commitment to diversity through teaching and outreach.
