Position Summary

Guidelines, and timelines for implementation ensuring consistency with the Mission and Vision of Colorado State University and Dining. The position will work independently in performing these tasks while establishing and coordinating with stakeholders from across the University and within HDS. This position will also be responsible for organizing the marketing strategies for the department by acting as liaison with the HDS Communication Department. This position will also act as a specialist for the Student Employment Program, by continuing to expand the program while establishing and maintaining a successful student employee recruitment program.

Required Job Qualifications

  • Possess a Master’s degree in Business Management or related field of study
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in university food service
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hiring, coordinating, and evaluating student employees in a university setting

Preferred Job Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to effectively lead independently and organize meetings and trainings
  • Ability to write reports, create presentations, and work proficiently in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Project, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
  • Proven ability to organize and problem solve in a team setting, establish priorities and make decisions
  • Effective leadership, management, team building, and supervisory skills

  • Create an annual working budget of $500,000 of expenses that will be needed to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.

Assessments and Evaluations

Duty/Responsibility

  • Initiate and manage all dining assessment processes following university standards, guidelines, and timelines
  • Coordinate the completion of department and university reviews, ensuring accuracy of information, timeliness, and participation of dining staff
  • Develop and maintain a system to regularly evaluate meal plan effectiveness, customer service, and recruitment efforts
  • Develop new survey methods for customer satisfaction and employee satisfaction efforts, and help coordinate action items based on results
  • Initiate and deploy yearly reviews including but not limited to: Annual Reports, Year in Review, NACUFS Customer Satisfaction Survey, Employee Satisfaction Survey, etc.
  • Organize and direct annual strategic planning meetings, ensuring key stakeholder involvement and University guidelines are achieved and maintained
  • Act as liaison for RDS and the HDS Assessment Coordinator
  • Act as organizer for a variety of initiatives as assigned

  • Assist in coordination and marketing of special events, ensuring proper outreach and communication is achieved for those events in appropriate time frames; act as support for those events
  • Organize and complete press releases as needed ie. CSU, local, and national publications when appropriate and assigned to better tell our story to the public
  • Create, maintain, and revise a marketing budget of $8,000 for the department

Student Management Success Specialist

Duty/Responsibility

  • Act as mentor / advisor to student managers of professional behaviors and actions
  • Educate and assist student managers in hiring guidelines, as well as planning, producing and administering training, seminars, and evaluation processes for hourly employees
  • Ensure that Student Managers are competent in their job duties by administering their checklist and walkthrough evaluations
  • Expand, advance, and maintain the professional development opportunities for the student management staff acumen
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate an expanded year rounds recruitment effort for student hourly and non-student hourly positions within the University and Community
  • Expand on Student Internship programs from the community; i.e. ACE, PACE, and other opportunities
  • Create, maintain, and revise an annual student management and student recruitment budget of $2,000

  • Continue to hone communication and organizational skills by pursuing professional development opportunities
  • Keep up to date on current trends and information related to marketing and coordinating a college-aged student management program
  • Represent Dining services in the administration team, campus committees, councils
  • Other duties as assigned
