The School carries out internationally excellent teaching and research, attracting high-calibre students and a high level of research funding.

This post provides a unique opportunity for a candidate of exceptional calibre to play a key role in shaping the future of the School to increase its global impact and contribution to society.

Applications are invited from candidates who have significant experience operating in an academic environment; an understanding of the demands of world-class research scholarship and teaching across the range of disciplines present in the School, together with experience in people management and budgetary responsibility within a complex organisation. 

You will have an exceptional personal record of research and research funding awards, internationally recognised in at least one of the School’s core disciplines and have the vision and skills required to lead the School.
Candidates will be committed to strengthening and further developing the School’s activities in research and impact; maximising the quality and effectiveness of its teaching; enhancing eLearning and online teaching initiatives that build on the University’s existing strengths in online education; and to act as the external advocate of the School to develop the School’s presence and reputation, both nationally and internationally. 

The successful candidate will be appointed to an open-ended Professorial post within the School, and a five year term as Head of School.
