Universities are about enhancing life choices and transforming lives. We pride ourselves on recruiting students from diverse backgrounds and enabling them to shape their learning experience to suit their lifestyles and aspirations. We encourage our students to dare to be different, to aim to achieve great things and support them through their journey, providing an excellent learning experience.

Staffordshire University is in the midst of exciting times. In a landscape of seismic change in Higher Education, we are producing a new strategy and reshaping the way we work to ensure that we are fit for the future and able to seize emerging opportunities and deal with any challenges. This has engendered an optimism and energy amongst our staff and students who are playing a central role in shaping our future.

One of our values is to be ‘brilliant and friendly’ and that is what our staff and students are. The Students’ Union have driven our value of ‘proud to be Staffs’ and this set the tone for how we work at Staffordshire University.
We recognise that we have to improve our performance against relevant benchmarks and in external league tables, but we are pleased that we are beginning to see a step change.

Our refurbishments and new buildings on our Stoke campus and our Centres of Excellence in Stafford and Shrewsbury continue to be unveiled and we are delighted to see the emerging transformation of our facilities.
We are a University that is both of and for our city and region, maximising the impact of our presence in Stoke and Staffordshire. Currently Stoke-on-Trent is the European City of Sport and we are an integral part of this achievement and activity. We are also playing a key role in the bid to become the City of Culture in 2021.

We are seeking an accomplished, innovative leader to join the University as Deputy Vice-Chancellor as we embark on this next phase, contributing to the strategic, academic and operational leadership and management of the University and specifically the delivery and enhancement of our infrastructure through the development of our estate and our facilities, together with our academic portfolio.

The successful candidate will be critical in ensuring our offer reflects and responds to market demands, enhancing the University’s role within the city and region and beyond, and positioning us as a central and vital contributor in our communities. They will possess a sound understanding of the student experience and of recruitment cycles, alongside a track record of successful strategic delivery, coupled with personal authority, presence and expertise, to drive the university forward.
