About The Role

  • Strategic Support: You will work closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) and the College Executive to contribute to the development and execution of the College's strategy.
  • Innovation and Business Proposals: Identifying innovation opportunities, developing proposals, and crafting business cases for new initiatives.
  • Expert Advice and Insights: Provide independent, actionable advice and insights based on data synthesis, helping guide internal and external decision-making processes.
  • Representation: Act as the College's representative in broader RMIT working groups and ensure STEM College is well-represented in institutional decisions.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Develop high-quality papers, presentations, and reports to communicate strategic and operational matters.

To be successful for this position, you will have:

  • Extensive experience and demonstrated success in developing, leading and executing strategic planning activities with broad scope in a large and complex organisation, preferably in a tertiary education environment
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the strategic context, current policy agenda, and priorities within the higher education sector, including key trends, regulatory changes, funding models, and academic priorities
  • Highly developed business writing skills and demonstrated experience in producing presentations, reports and briefing notes to a high standard
  • Substantial experience in scoping, conducting and analysing quantitative and qualitative research and data on which to make sound decisions, paired with demonstrated digital capability to provide insights, commentary and data-based recommendations for varied audiences
  • Demonstrated ability as a trusted advisor to build credibility and influence with senior executive in the higher education sector
  • Excellent interpersonal, consultation, negotiation skills, with the ability to lead, direct and influence others, including a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groups
  • Proven ability to work with minimal guidance, in a collaborative team environment and with a strong understanding of matrix structures
  • A strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to connect strategy and performance information (financial and non- financial) to support effective decision making
  • Experienced in developing solutions to solve complex organisational problems, using in depth analysis and good judgement to select and apply/ recommend appropriate decisions

Qualifications

A relevant tertiary qualification and extensive experience in a related area of work at senior level. Professional experience in a tertiary education environment would be an advantage.
