Department: External Relations Office
Vacancy ID: 033861
Closing Date: 16-Mar-2025

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.

A new University Events team is being established within an expanding external affairs function, at a time of exciting growth and change at the University. The team will operate in support of the University’s Strategic Plan 2023-2028 with the remit of enhancing and amplifying the University’s reputation through the delivery of high-quality events for a variety of audiences. To that end, MU is welcoming applications for a dynamic, experienced events and outreach professional, skilled in relationship building, to serve as Events Coordinator. This individual will facilitate the development of this important team, fostering strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders and maximising the support delivered to teams, administrators, and colleagues across the University.

The Events Coordinator will initially work with the Head of University Events to survey internal stakeholders, identify University event needs, and prepare a comprehensive set of support offerings that the office will employ to facilitate events delivery across the University. The post-holder will then be tasked with an outreach campaign, to raise awareness of, and provide training for, the new supports available to colleagues, while developing strong collaborative relationships and lines of communication. Over time, a proportion of the post-holder’s time may be dedicated to supporting a specific portfolio of events within the University.

The Events Coordinator will field incoming requests for support, will proactively reach out to University event organisers, and will report on upcoming event needs at university events briefings. They will be responsible for tracking event office activity and measuring outputs against KPIs. Additionally, they will be responsible for a number of distinct projects, including helping to manage an equipment library, compiling venue information, and building webpages with consolidated resources for event planners. Finally, all members of the Events Office will help with the operational delivery of safe, professional and enjoyable events on event execution days.

This position will initially report to the Head of University Events and work closely with colleagues across the University. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in establishing the new university events team and will have scope for professional development and contribution to the University.
