About the Role

Flinders University International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing (ICPOCT) is seeking a Scientific Officer to support the transition and coordination of our infectious disease testing program, providing multi-plexed molecular diagnostics to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical services across Australia.

Join a global leader in Point-of-Care (POC) Testing research and innovation, dedicated to improving healthcare access and outcomes for Indigenous communities and remote populations.

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:

  • A Bachelor of Medical Science or equivalent degree in a relevant field with subsequent relevant experience
  • Ability to create and edit digital learning packages and content, including but not limited to training videos, static training presentations, interactive training modules using a variety of multimedia formats, embed formal assessment questions and enable training certification and registration.
  • Experience of routine microbial pathology testing and the relevant national/international standards and testing requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in the delivery and management of molecular-based point-of-care testing, including GeneXpert devices
  • Knowledge and experience in developing risk assessments and risk mitigation procedures for the use in vitro diagnostic tests and/or hazardous chemicals

About the International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing

The International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing work collaboratively with national and international partners to improve health care, access to pathology testing, and improve health outcomes.

The Centre works to translate the national research and teaching expertise in the field of community based POC Testing to other national and international audiences, and as a result, build the capacity of rural and remote communities globally (particularly Indigenous communities) to develop solutions to improve both health service delivery and patient outcomes in their communities.

About the Flinders Health and Medical Research Building

At the beginning of 2022, construction commenced on the $255 million Flinders Health and Medical Research Building (FHMRB). Opening in early 2024, the FHMRB enables researchers, practitioners and industry partners to work together more closely than ever before, creating a hub of collaboration within southern Adelaide’s own biomedical research precinct.
