The Department of Physics is recruiting a Research Associate in Theoretical Physics to work with Dr Peter Kirton on the EPSRC funded project “Multimode Cavity QED”. The post also involves collaboration with other investigators on the grant, Prof. Jonathan Keeling at the University of St Andrews and Prof. Andrew Daley at the University of Oxford, as well as with project partners Prof. Benjamin Lev at Stanford University and Prof. Marluisa Chiofalo at the University of Pisa. Applicants must have a PhD in theoretical physics and experience of using and/or a willingness to use both analytical and numerical methods applied in atomic, molecular and optical physics or condensed matter physics. The successful candidate will work with Dr Kirton on the theory of ultracold atoms in multimode optical cavities, with a particular focus on spin models. The work will involve both theory-led projects, and also close collaboration with experimental work.
For any informal enquiries, please contact Senior Lecturer, Peter Kirton (peter.kirton@strath.ac.uk).
