  • About the Role
    The role involves working within the Male Infertility and Germ Cell Biology Laboratory to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying male fertility. The primary focus of this role is to investigate sperm production and motility in the testis, exploring how dysfunction in these processes contributes to male infertility.

    The position offers opportunities to contribute to the development of infertility therapies and non-hormonal contraceptive strategies.

    Additionally, the research aims to uncover novel biological mechanisms with broad implications for health and medicine.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Make significant contribute towards the research effort of the team and to develop your research expertise with an increasing degree of autonomy.
  • Under the guidance and support of Senior Academic staff conduct internationally competitive research, resulting in publications in high impact journals.
  • Take a leading role in the publication of academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high academic standard in accordance with the research expectations of the University of Melbourne
  • Actively participate in research seminars and conferences to disseminate research findings as opportunities arise.
  • Contribute to the preparation, or where appropriate individual preparation of research proposal submissions to internal or external funding bodies as relevant.
  • Who We Are Looking For
    You will be a PhD graduate with a strong background in molecular biology, proteomics, bioinformatics, and/or microscopy, eager to deliver research on novel mechanisms of sperm function and male fertility. You will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, including experts in biology, fluid mechanics, genetics, and translational medicine.

    You will also have:

  • Evidence of the ability to successfully establish methods to address biological questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication.
  • Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic research career trajectory.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with relevant professional or industry bodies and stakeholders to foster collaborative partnerships.

    This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
