About the Role 

The position is responsible for the development, delivery and coordination of courses within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The position will contribute independently and as part of a team to support the teaching outcomes and to carry out activities to maintain and develop their scholarly and/or professional activities.

Students learn from industry professionals and their experience extends beyond the classroom, with access to purpose-built facilities, including a wide range of laboratories and simulated hospital and health services environments located on campus.  Students also get hands-on experience by completing fieldwork and clinical placement throughout their studies. UniSA Clinical and Health Sciences has clinical agreements with all local health networks, major hospitals, private health providers, rural health networks, aged care services and mental health services.

Home to the University of South Australia Rosemary Bryant AO Research Centre, the Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacy Research Centre and with key research concentrations in the areas of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Education, nursing and midwifery workforce development, quality and safety, drug discovery, pharmaceutical innovation, health and disease biology, and food nutrition and health, we continue to meet community health needs and contribute to a healthier society.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Develop, coordinate and deliver courses on campus, online or via other appropriate methods 
  • Contribute to the activities of the Academic Unit by undertaking scholarship in areas of teaching and learning practice
  • Undertake course coordination duties and contribute to program planning, development and evaluation
  • Create, foster and enhance national and international links with relevant industry, business, university and community groups that assist in the advancement of University and Academic Unit objectives 

 Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor of Nursing and a Master's degree or PhD degree qualification in a relevant health discipline and registration, as a Registered Nurse, with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
  • A demonstrated contribution to the profession and/or discipline of nursing
  • Demonstrated academic experience teaching students engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate health and/or nursing programs
  • Demonstrated clinical experience/expertise and understanding of global and national policies and priorities in health and nursing practice
  • Experience in developing a culture of teaching and learning excellence and in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies
