About the opportunity
The Manager, Faculty Media and Public Relations will manage the development and implementation of media and public relations/communication strategies for University faculties, and which support strategic priorities and increase the University's profile and brand position, nationally and internationally. This role is responsible for the faculty communication strategies and must have a keen sense of what is newsworthy and understand the media landscape and news cycles.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- manage Media Advises working in discipline specific teams, and prioritise workload in alignment with faculty and PSU objectives
- develop and support agreed media and public relations strategies to promote faculty research, initiatives and programs, and raise the public profile of individual faculties
- develop, write and promote stories and cross-channel content across the complete range of faculty research, teaching and community engagement activities
- provide media advice and public relations support to Deans and senior academic staff involved in engagement activities
- maintain key internal and external stakeholder relationships.
About you
- extensive experience in media relations, with experience managing integrated media and/or public relations campaigns
- extensive experience in managing teams and supervising staff
- sound knowledge of media operations with contacts across print, radio, television and online; with experience liaising with and pitching to the media to obtain coverage
- high level analytical and conceptual skills to deliver solutions to complex strategic and business issues
- highly developed relationship management skills, with experience in issues management and a proven ability to provide advice to senior management on risks and solutions.
