About the School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences
The School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences is located in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Cluster, together with the School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment, the School of Science, the MARCS Institute and the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment. The School operates from three of the eleven WSU campuses: Penrith campus, Parramatta South campus and Campbeltown campus. The School offers research-led undergraduate and postgraduate programs to address the global knowledge and skill shortfall of STEM professionals, including research programs that combine advanced academic knowledge with real-life training to suit a range of career needs and interests in the following disciplines: Computer Science and Information Technologies, Data Sciences, Mathematics and STEM Entrepreneurship. The School conducts world leading research, which focus is clustered in the themes of Intelligent Decision Making, Computing for Sustainability and Equality, and Foundation, Algorithms and Discovery. The School of Computer, Data, and Mathematical Sciences is looking for an educator and researcher specialised in Data Science. This key role demands a professional who is skilled at embedding cutting-edge research into both undergraduate and some postgraduate programs. The ideal candidate will bring academic and industry experience, paired with the leadership skills required to lead research initiatives and strengthen industry partnerships. These are full-time, ongoing positions based at Western’s Parramatta, Penrith (Kingswood) or Campbelltown Campus, although travel to other campuses of the University may be required.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must provide evidence that you:
- have been engaged as a casual academic for at least 2 teaching sessions within the previous 2 years at an Australian Higher Education institution; and
- hold or have submitted all requirements for a PhD or other relevant Level 10 AQF qualification; and
- have not previously held an ongoing position with an Australian Higher Education provider in the previous 3 years.
Candidates must submit evidence of the above requirements and any evidence of their teaching performance, such as Student Feedback on Teaching survey outcomes, at the time of application.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $109,861 to $132,730 p.a. (comprising Salary of $92,834 to $112,158 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading).
Please note that a 2.9% salary increase will take effect from March 2025.
