The Role

We are looking for a self-driven post-doctoral researcher with 4+ years of industry expertise in deploying AI frameworks using AZURE and deep knowledge in computer vision tracking. This person will ideally possess a degree in Computer Science and will lead researchers and a commercial consultant and regularly interface with stakeholders such as pet care professionals and owners. The research project is focused on commercialising research; therefore, a strong interest in entrepreneurship is critical. Demonstrated experience as a Team Lead or Technical Director  in a commercial , agile project management setting and regular reporting using JIRA or similar is critical. Due to the nature of the project, the person should demonstrate a commitment to protecting intellectual property while pursuing innovative research.

The person will need to have deep technical expertise in AI deployment in the industry and expertise in computer vision tracking models. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with a research team to develop innovative solutions with practical applications in the rapidly PetTech sector.

Experience in developing interactive applications and user evaluation studies would be an advantage. The candidate must have an excellent working knowledge of kinematic and volumetric computer vision pose tracking models. 

The successful candidate will report to Principal Investigator (PI) Professor Gerry Lacey and lead other researchers, both technical and commercial while contributing to technology development, patenting, and publishing in top-tier peer-reviewed journals. 

As a researcher, you will work collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of researchers. In addition, you will have the responsibility of supporting thesis project students working in computer vision, augmented reality and robotics. You will also be expected to engage in professional development activities that will advance your training and career prospects, with guidance from the PI. Occasional travel may be required to visit collaborating organizations and attend team meetings.

Salary

Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher Level 2 (2024): €52,716 p.a (1 Point)

Post-Doctoral Researcher Level 1 (2024): €44,874 - €51,313 p.a (6 Points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
