The Gender Studies Programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is the first programme on gender studies in the tertiary education sector in Hong Kong. It is an interdisciplinary unit based in the Faculty of Social Science, offering Bachelor, MA, MPhil and PhD programmes. The forward-looking team of Gender Studies Programme is inviting applications for the Lecturer position to join its teaching team from 2025-26.

The appointee is expected to

  • teach courses in relevant areas at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • supervise students' research at both undergraduate and taught postgraduate levels; and
  • organize and engage in activities related to student development, programme administration, and curriculum development.

Applicants should possess:

  1. a PhD degree and relevant research or teaching experience in gender/sex/sexuality-related areas;
  2. the ability to use English as a medium of instruction; and
  3. a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to high-quality teaching.

Those with prior teaching experience in tertiary educational institutions are preferred. There is no specific requirement for applicants' subject discipline (Anthropology, Business, Cultural Studies, Education, History, Journalism and Communication, Literature, Media Studies, Philosophy, Public Health, or Social Work etc.).

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
