Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 531024)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform data analysis, result interpretation and figure visualization on biological data of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, cytomics, spatial omics to identify genetic and cytometric biomarker
  • Provide statistical consultation and support to multiple research teams in a collaborative environment
  • Carry out integrative mechanistic studies
  • Assist in preparing scientific publications, grant proposals and reports
  • Work with a diverse and dynamic team
  • Provide general administrative and operational support such as HPC technical assistance

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biochemistry, or related disciplines; or a Master's degree with at least 1 year's post-qualification experience
  • Research experience in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics through advanced programming (Linux Shell , Matlab, Python or R)
  • Demonstrated a high level of expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets
  • Detail-oriented and excellent communication skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, fluent Cantonese speaking would be an advantageous 
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • Those with less experience or lower qualifications may be considered as Research Assistant I with the opportunity of a part-time Ph.D. offer

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
