Requirements
Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Chinese Linguistics or Chinese Literature with at least 4 years of experience in teaching and developing Putonghua/Cantonese/Written Chinese courses, preferably in Hong Kong tertiary institutions. He/She is expected to have a good track record in language teaching (Cantonese to mainland students and international students; Putonghua and/or Written Chinese to Hong Kong local students and international students) at the tertiary level. Candidate is also expected to have a certificate of PSC (Level One) and take up duties to design and lead extra-curricular language activities (such as written Chinese workshops, and public speaking and debate training) beyond teaching duties. Qualification as National Examiner for PSC and a PhD degree in relevant areas will be added advantages.
Applicants with less experience will be considered for appointment as Assistant Lecturer.
Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive. The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years.
