Reporting To: Vice Principal Quality and Learner Services
Pay Grade: £43,157
Role Purpose
To support the Vice Principals for Curriculum and Quality and the Senior Leadership Team to provide high quality management, leadership and guidance across the Higher Education curriculum; with responsibility for the quality of provision, the development of curriculum, research, scholarship and innovation.
The post holder will also be accountable for registry and compliance with the requirements set out by the Office for Students and will act as the HE registrar.
Key Responsibilities:
- To work closely with the Vice Principals for Curriculum and Quality on the implementation of the College's Strategy for Higher Education ensuring the strategy is sensitive to local markets and student needs.
- To work closely with the Assistant Principals and Heads of Institute to foster and embed a culture for Higher Education which facilitates curriculum innovation, engagement in research and scholarly activity and creativity in curriculum delivery ensuring that these outcomes are used to enhance the student experience and the development of the curricula.
- To ensure high quality local, regional and national relationships with key stakeholders.
- To work closely with Assistant Principals and Heads of Institute on the annual curriculum review to ensure the curriculum is responsive to market needs, is of high quality and cost effective.
- To lead on the objectives set out in the Access and Participation Plan.
- To work with the HE Quality Manager to safeguard academic standards, development of quality assurance and the continued improvement of Higher education processes and provision. Ensure HE compliance both internally and externally quality assurance agencies and that all provision meets regulatory requirements and ensure improvement is a key focus of all activity.
- Provide day to day line management and support of the HE team within the department and support matrix management with embedded HE in the Institutes.
- To work closely with the Assistant Principals to ensure FE progression to HE is effectively promoted to students and there are seamless pathways in place for progression.
- To lead the development, implementation and review of effective strategies to manage student engagement, for example, NSS and provide regular progress reports on College level issues and outcomes including the implementation and review of action plans in response to student satisfaction issues.
- Working closely with the link Quality manager, lead on the annual self-assessment of the department and subsequent quality improvement plan to ensure quality improvement KPls are met.
- To lead on ensuring HE governance through committee structure is robust including acting as chair.
- To regularly report progress on curriculum matters to the HE Academic Board, SLT and Standards Committee.
- Lead on the planning, implementation and management of the Colleges quality assurance processes (in partnership with the HE Quality Manager and the Vice Principal for Quality) including preparing agendas, preparing papers, appointing external examiners, RTS status, boards, accuracy of results and transcripts, development of HE data sets and comprehensive reporting of data.
- Act as the main communication channel between the HE Development and Registry team and regulatory bodies such as the OfS and QAA.
- Variation to the job description may be required from time to time.

- To represent and promote the College's culture code internally and externally; acting as an ambassador for business development on behalf of the College.
- Promote the College's student first ethos, ensuring that the student experience is uppermost in policy and decision making.

- To actively promote and adhere to agreed College values.
- To engage in a leadership role in change management, promoting innovation
- To act as a spokesperson for the College to various media as and when required
- To contribute to delivering the College's internal communications strategy, playing a leadership role in ensuring that communications are high quality and that our workforce is respected
- To participate in the College's annual Performance and Development Review (PDR) and contribute to the overall development of Hull College staff.
- To contribute to the development of the College's Strategic Development Plan.
- To facilitate the achievement of the College's quality objectives including those from external bodies.
