Full time, Fixed Term (36 months)
Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Social Mechanisms and Applications research project led by the Principal Investigator (PI), Professor David Levine and Co-Investigated by Professor Kostas Stathis.
This is a project funded by the Leverhulme Trust.
The successful candidate is expected to engage as a full member of the research team and have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with students, colleagues, and external audiences including the ability to present complex information effectively to a range of audiences.
The successful candidate will possess as many as possible of the following:
- PhD in relevant subject area (or near completion of)
- Experience of designing, formulating, and implementing AI agents for a specific domain (online and/or in-lab)
- Experience of working in industry in a research capacity
- Demonstrable comprehensive knowledge in the subject area
- Ability to use key AI and/or Machine Learning software, e.g., Python, Java, C++, Prolog, Javascript
- Proven ability to analyse and write up research results and handle related administrative duties
- Ability to develop multi-agent applications using an existing agent platform
- Evidence of a publication record in good quality journals
- Experience/expertise with computational modelling of agent models and behaviour.
- Practical experience of developing agent models, using symbolic and sub-symbolic AI techniques.
- Experience with the teleo-reactive model of agent execution.
- Experience with experimental data-analysis
- Experience with developing an agent environment in a AI programming language.
- Experience with constructing research funding proposals
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for open science research practices
