Associate Dean (Research) and Professor of Engineering

ECU’s School of Engineering is one of the most diverse in Australia with research encompassing a broad range of engineering disciplines and allied sciences with courses in the areas of mechanical, mechatronics, motorsports, robotics and autonomous systems, electrical power, renewable energy, control and automation, electronics, communications, computer systems, civil, environmental, chemical, and energy.

This breadth positions the School to undertake research in sustainability engineering which is multidisciplinary in nature. The School’s research is focused on three main themes:

  • Energy, resources, and the environment
  • Communication, monitoring, and control
  • Materials, manufacturing, and Infrastructure  

Reporting to the Executive Dean, the School is now seeking to appoint an Associate Dean (Research), a 0.6 fractional appointment,  and Professor of Engineering who can make a significant contribution to the School’s world class research and teaching activities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to leverage unique and world class facilities to encourage greater industry collaboration and produce impactful research and secure grants.

Fostering a collaborative and inclusive School culture, the Associate Dean (Research) will be responsible for the development and implementation of research strategies based on creativity, sound risk management and forward thinking. The role has a strong focus on enhancing the University’s national and international research profile.

As a research leader with industry relationships, you will:

  • Produce impactful research outputs and secure research grants
  • Foster a collaborative research culture within the School that engenders strategic engagement with industry, profession, and community
