Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued. We are seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher (PDR) to join the GoGreen Next Horizon Europe project. The project is a 54 month EU Horizon Europe funded project to address the biodiversity-climate-planetary health nexus, delivering positive policy and city/region pilot outcomes in 4 biogeographic regions across Europe, which ends on the 30th June 2028. More information on the project can be found at https://gogreennext.eu

We wish to appoint a candidate to support the Co Investigators, Dr. Ollie Bartlett and Dr. Mary Dobbs, in conducting their research for a deliverable due in November 2025. The work will focus primarily on an analysis of the legal frameworks at city level that impact the adoption of policies to support the development of sustainable, health-promoting urban environments. The pilot cities/areas of the GoGreen Next project are  Cork (Ireland), Klagenfurt (Austria), Malta (Malta) and Päijät- Häme Region (Finland). Candidates may also be asked to contribute to the analysis of EU level legal frameworks.

Therefore, for this particular position, we are looking to appoint a candidate with knowledge in the broad fields of environmental and/or health law. Candidates with specific knowledge of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) or urban health policy will be especially welcome. Similarly, candidates with specific knowledge of the legal systems within the pilot countries will be especially welcome. Experience of working in teams and in interdisciplinary research projects is desirable.

There will be opportunities to engage with the project more generally and with the Co-Investigators' networks and activities.

Salary:

Post Doctoral Researcher Level 1 (2024): €44,847 – €47,411 p.a. pro-rata (3 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
