About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) in Midwifery. This role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated academic to contribute to midwifery education and research, while also providing leadership and development to the team. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership in curriculum design and development, supporting the Southern Cross Model's focus on innovative and blended delivery.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences in midwifery.
  • Lead academic initiatives, with the potential to take on Course Coordinator responsibilities.
  • Engage in research and scholarship, contributing to publications and grant success aligned with the Faculty’s priorities.

About you

You will be an experienced academic leader with a passion for midwifery education and curriculum innovation. More specifically, you will have:

  • A PhD in a relevant field and current AHPRA registration as a Midwife
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic roles, including team development and mentoring
  • Proven expertise in curriculum design and development, particularly for online and blended learning environments
  • A strong track record of research outputs, including high-quality publications and grant success
  • Evidence of regular participation in and contribution to: research collaborations; placement partnerships; professional practice; staff development activities; relevant professional bodies; and/or community groups.

Salary and benefits

  • Full-time, continuing (permanent).
  • Located at Gold Coast, QLD 4225. Generous relocation support is available.
  • The level of appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
    • The base salary for Academic Level B ranges from $110,611 - $130,814 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $153,052.
    • The base salary for Academic Level C ranges from $134,848 - $155,046 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $181,403.
