Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pūkenga - Lecturer (Teaching) in Software Engineering to join the Te Kura Mātai Pūkaha, Pūrorohiko - School of Engineering and Computer Science on a four-year, fixed-term contract.
This position represents a chance to join and help shape a collaborative teaching and learning experience for Victoria University and Xiamen University students and staff. All areas of Software Engineering are of interest, but applications are particularly welcome from candidates with extensive teaching experience in programming, cybersecurity, and computer.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide high quality and critically reflective teaching practices
- Contribute to innovations in learning, teaching, and assessment within the discipline, including demonstrating digital fluency
- Contribute to the review and re-design of programmes and courses
- Engage in regular professional development that leads to enhanced teaching practice and where relevant, inclusion of practitioner perspectives
- Contribute to the collegial development of the Programme, Academic Unit and Faculty through respectful and transparent interactions with colleagues
- Undertake job evaluations in accordance with the University's remuneration framework and job evaluation
It is expected that the appointee will contribute to teaching across three trimesters. You will be required and expected to teach in China for periods of up to 20 weeks at a time throughout the year and will be based in New Zealand at Victoria University of Wellington for the remainder.

You will:

Key requirements:
- A completed PhD in a relevant field, or other relevant qualifications commensurate with the role
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with students and staff from a diverse range of backgrounds
Demonstrated evidence of:
- Successful teaching in a relevant field at tertiary level
- Developing skill with a range of pedagogies and technologies
- Good oral and written communication skills.
