Applicants are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow under Department of Surgery to work on project on Biliary Atresia affecting newborns to commence as soon as possible for two year, with the possibility of renewal.

In this project, we will employ organoid culture, hPSCs, hPSC-derived macrophages and other immune cells, and single cell transcriptomics technologies to investigate the roles of immune responses in the disease initiation and progression of Biliary Atresia. We expect that this combination will provide insights into the pathophysiology, and explore new therapeutic avenues to treat or ameliorate the disorder.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in stem cells or related discipline and hands-on experience with stem cell differentiation platform, bulk/single cell RNA sequencing data analysis. Previous experience on primary cell culture, immune cells differentiation from stem cell, organoid culture, cell sorting and downstream processing for single cell RNA sequencing would be an advantage. They should be able to work independently, communicate fluently in English, and possess good interpersonal skills. A good publication record would be an advantage. The appointee will be working in a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for the culturing / preparation of organoid / single cell for RNA sequencing and data analysis. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and communicating analysis with collaborators, writing reports and scientific publications, and supervision of postgraduate students. Enquiries should be sent to Dr. V.C.H. Lui at vchlui@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
