About the role
The Department of War Studies seeks to recruit a full time, fixed term Lecturer in International Relations Education, to support teaching across our BA and PGT IR programmes. The postholder will contribute to compulsory International Relations modules on our BA IR and BA History and IR programmes, as well optional theory and ‘applied’ IR modules at both BA and MA. We welcome applicants with expertise in the discipline of International Relations and a proven publication and teaching track record. The successful candidate will be able to deliver outstanding teaching on International Relations and to assess students learning and provide feedback at the highest level, as a member of a collegial academic community.
The post is offered on the Academic Education Pathway (AEP), providing a specialist contract that focuses on the delivery of education, education-related scholarship, and leadership in education. The role is campus-based and scheduled to begin in academic year 2024/25.
This post is a full time fixed term role until 30 September 2027
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- PhD awarded in International Relations.
- Experience of successful teaching of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students in International Relations.
- Evidence of innovative teaching practices in International Relations.
- Evidence of strong administrative skills.
- Evidence of a collegial approach to membership of an academic community.
- Evidence of supporting efforts to improve equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Evidence of a track record of and research agenda for high-quality publications in International Relations appropriate to the level of the position.
Desirable criteria
- A track record of wider administrative contribution to the delivery of departmental activities.
- Experience of successfully managing teaching teams comprised of Graduate Teaching Assistants.
- Experience of curriculum design and/or module convening.
