Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer / Assistant Research Officer in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 530605), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a PhD degree in Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline, with at least five years of relevant work experience. They should have excellent communication skills and be effective team players. Proficiency in English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua) is required. Experience in performing Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory, next generation sequencing, artificial intelligence, structural biology, virology, or antimicrobial resistance are preferred. Those with less experience and/or lower qualification may be considered for appointment as Assistant Research Officer.
The appointee will work closely with researchers in the Department of Microbiology to develop novel technologies and contribute to the research projects of principal investigators within the Department. He/She will provide technical support for departmental users and management support for BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories; coordinate and oversee laboratory practical courses to ensure smooth operations; assist in the relocation of the laboratory; and perform other duties as assigned.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical/dental benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary for Assistant Research Officer, and 15% for Research Officer. Housing benefits will be provided to Research Officer if applicable.
