Department: Development & Alumni Relations
Vacancy ID: 032181
Closing Date: 09-Jan-2025

Maynooth University is committed to a strategy in which the primary University goals of excellent research and scholarship and outstanding education are interlinked and equally valued.

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Operations and Finance to join a highly ambitious and growing team within the Development and Alumni Relations Office, working closely with colleagues across the External Relations Office and the broader University community as well as with external partners and funders. The appointee will have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in designing and implementing a future-focused plan of activities and support structures to promote and foster mutually beneficial, sustained relationships between the University and its external stakeholders, including its 100,000+ member alumni community and its growing base of donors to the Maynooth University Foundation.

The appointee will oversee a highly capable and growing team and play a critical leadership role in the financial, operational and governance/compliance responsibilities for the Maynooth University Foundation and the MU Development and Alumni Relations Office. They will lead the establishment of new financial and operational processes, workflows, data-driven systems and enabling supports to achieve key goals for philanthropy and alumni engagement in the University’s new Strategic Plan 2023-28. The highly organised and detail-oriented appointee will have relevant experience in operations and finance—preferably within a higher education, charity or other similar setting—and have a passion and drive to help build up structures in a nascent unit that believes in the impact of fundraising and alumni engagement on a university’s students and research community.

The responsibilities of the appointee will include: financial management and oversight of donation transactions and funds, gift processing policies, procedures and agreements; adherence with governance/compliance practices and requirements of the higher education and charities sectors; leading the operations and contributing to the strategic expansion of the unit; and day-to-day management of the operations and budget for the office; and managing a small but growing team of alumni and development services staff within the Office.

The appointee will report on an interim basis to the Vice-President External Affairs, and eventually to a Director of Development and Alumni Relations.
