Description

The Division Engineering, at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a broader field of experimental geotechnical engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to perform advanced geotechnical testing.

Required Qualifications:

A successful applicant must have a PhD in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on experimental modeling of geotechnical/geomechanics problems. Applicants need to demonstrate previous experience in advanced geotechnical or geomechanical lab testing.

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition, the following additional qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience in geotechnical centrifuge testing
  • Bioremediation and geoenvironmental engineering
  • Geohazards risk assessment and management via remote sensing
  • Energy geotechnics
  • Artificial intelligence applications in geotechnical engineering

Physical Requirements:

Performing centrifuge experiments involves frequent standing, sitting, grasping, and fine hand manipulation with continual talking, hearing, and seeing. May be required to lift up to 10 kgs.

Research project:

The successful applicant will lead a fascinating project aimed at enhancing the state of the art of geomechanical experimental modeling with the greater goal of designing more efficient and environment-friendly infrastructure and energy systems. The Post-Doctoral Associate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of research scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students. The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to continuously document research progress in the form of scientific publications to be submitted to reputable journals.
