Your personal sphere of influence:
The research group of Prof. Dr. Ina Bergheim, Molecular Nutritional Sciences, Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Vienna is looking for support of the research projects in the thematic field of nutrition, metabolism and aging. We are an interdisciplinary research team working at the interfaces between nutrition and the development of metabolic diseases as well as healthy aging. We build on a good working atmosphere, close collaboration with our students and self-dependent involvement and coordination of research projects.
Your future tasks:
You will be responsible for the conceptualization, co-coordination and co-supervision of studies focusing on the development of metabolic abnormalities and aging-related alterations in humans and model organisms. Participation in paper writing and publication is expected. In addition, participating in teaching and examinations within the requirements of the collective agreement is expected. The successful candidate is expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months after being employed. The position is intended to lead to a PhD thesis typically in form of cumulative publications.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed Master's degree or Diploma, in the field of nutritional sciences or related discipline (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, medicine) with a Master thesis preferably with a focus on nutrition and aging
- Lifely interested in science
- Very good knowledge in nutrition, human physiology and biochemistry
- First experiences in working with primary tissue from model organisms as well as with molecular methods such as Western blot, immunohistochemistry but also enzyme-based assays
- Fluent in German and English (excellent knowledge in both languages)
- High interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and showing a high level of motivation for research
The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extensive declaration.
