Your tasks

  • Translate university-specific texts (e.g. websites, brochures, curricula, guidelines, articles for the research magazine and press releases) from German to English and from English to German, in accordance with the terminological database and the Style Guide of the University of Vienna
  • Proofread and revise English-language texts, in accordance with the terminological database and the Style Guide of the University of Vienna
  • Contribute to the coordination of the translation service, including development of the translation memory
  • Coordinate comprehensive translation projects (for the language combination German-English as well as for other foreign languages) with external partners
  • Contribute to the development of the terminological database and the Style Guide of the University of Vienna
  • Provide advice to the organisational units of the University of Vienna with regard to English-German communication and translation services

Your qualifications

  • Higher education degree in transcultural communication or translation studies
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a translator and/or terminologist
  • Experience of terminology management and using computer-assisted translation software (SDL Trados Studio and SDL MultiTerm or comparable)
  • Experience of proofreading and revising English-language texts
  • Excellent level of proficiency in English (native speaker or at native-speaker level) and German

What we offer

  • Classification according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff: Section 54, job group IIIb, basic salary EUR 2.958,90 (full-time). The actual salary depends on your professional experience and qualification.
