About the role

We are seeking an exceptional candidate for the position of Senior Lecturer in Advanced Manufacturing. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct world-leading and impactful research, and teach across a broad range of areas including advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, sustainable manufacturing, and related topics in mechanical and aerospace engineering, computer-aided engineering, and advanced engineering materials. Proven research experience in these areas and a strong track record of successful grant applications are essential. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding researcher and educator with a history of impactful research, evidenced by publications in top journals and peer-reviewed conferences, and demonstrated excellence in teaching and learning in higher education. Responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues within the School and across the University, designing curriculum, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising students. The successful candidate will also be expected to foster links with external partners, including industry, government, and community, as the School diversifies its income sources. Additionally, the incumbent will develop and deliver innovative interdisciplinary academic programs, lead student projects for national and international competitions, and supervise projects addressing grand challenges. The ability to form strategic interdisciplinary teams and secure research grants in collaboration with internal and external partners is also required.

About You

The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent in Advanced Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related field. You will have significant experience and achievements in areas such as advanced manufacturing, sustainable manufacturing, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, advanced material processing technologies, or computer-aided engineering,  an outstanding track record and international reputation for excellence in research and development, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in high-profile journals, patents, Open Source developments, and strong national and international research collaborations. You will demonstrate leadership in research, fostering a strong research culture, and developing research initiatives, with experience supervising research students at Honours or higher degree levels, have a proven capacity to secure substantial research funding from various sources, including competitive government grants and industry partnerships. Additionally, you will exhibit proven leadership in curriculum development and program delivery in Advanced Manufacturing and Mechanical/Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Experience in successful interaction with industry or other external partners in research projects is essential, with industry experience in a related field being highly regarded.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level C $169,542 to $194,484 p.a. (comprising Salary of $143,410 to $164,728 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
