Position overview

Anthropology in the School of Anthropology & Archaeology, CASS, ANU, is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced, and collegial early career academic to join our team. The successful candidate’s field of expertise should be at the leading edge of anthropology/development and able to address undergraduate courses in development studies and the department’s new teaching focus on planetary futures. The candidate’s research focus will focus in development studies with an emphasis on environmental anthropology and planetary futures.

The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate excellence in ethnographic theory and methods. Candidates will be asked for evidence of on-going, active field-based research; a strong publication record against opportunity; and a strong teaching record, in particular on-line and innovative teaching to a diverse cohort of undergraduate and Master students. Evidence of ability to gain competitive grants will be an advantage. The successful candidate will be expected to supervise independent PhD research projects, develop postgraduate coursework, teach into the undergraduate curriculum, engage in research, and serve on university committees as appropriate.

The ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) is one of seven Colleges at ANU. The College, which is structured into two main research schools, offers degrees in more than 20 discipline areas and excels in research across the creative arts, humanities and social sciences. The College has a substantial international research presence and is a major source of national policy advice.
